On Proposal Day, My Boyfriend Confessed to His First Love

Chapter 2

In the Twitter video, Lucas was by the bed in the hospital.

Wearing gloves, he was carefully peeling the lobster and gently feeding it to Skye.

"There's some soup I cooked for you on the table.

"Eat it before it gets cold."

The camera then turned to the steaming soup.

My heart turned cold.

Last week, after I accidentally fell down, I bled out and almost had a miscarriage. I lay weakly in bed in the ward.

I coquettishly asked Lucas to make soup for me, but he frowned and refused, saying, "Men don't cook!

"If you want soup, order takeout."

After a long time, he finally brought me some sour seafood porridge from an unknown restaurant. It was already cold.

We had been in love for seven years, and I had told him about my seafood allergy countless times, but he had never taken it to heart.

Yesterday, I was surprised to see several ingredients for soup at home.

I thought he finally got a little bit of conscience and started to care about me.

It turned out he was going to make soup for Skye.

I laughed at myself.

Outside the window, snow was falling, and the night was already deep.

I wore nothing but a thin coat, and I couldn't help but shiver.

My phone rang again.

"Where are you? My mom said you haven't come home yet. Are you giving us attitude?

"If you have a conscience, come to the hospital and check on Skye. Apologize to her!"

The snow was getting heavier and heavier.

The road was covered with snow. I might not be able to get a cab and have to walk home in the cold.

"I'm near the company."

Even my voice was trembling from the cold.

"Why are you still there?

"You wore so little today. I'm worried about you. I'll come over right away."

Perhaps he had already seen the heavy snowfall.

Perhaps he was afraid I'd sulk and walk alone and end up catching a cold.

"Lucas, is Nadia still upset?

"It's all my fault. I'm just a useless burden. No one likes me. I'm annoying...

"Go and pick up Nadia. Don't worry about me, I can handle it myself..."

After saying that, she deliberately coughed violently.

"Skye, are you OK?"

His voice became obviously anxious and flustered.

Immediately, he took it out on me.

"It's because of your nonsense today that Skye has to suffer like this!

"How dare you still pretend to be pitiful to seek sympathy? Drop the act!"

The last bit of my affection for him was shattered.

I interrupted him and said coldly, "Let's break up.

"You two have my blessing."

After I hung up the phone, I still couldn't get a cab.

I could only struggle forward against the wind.

The wind blew on my face, cold and painful.

After a while, Lucas started to call me non-stop.

I was impatient, so I simply blocked him.

I finally had a short moment of peace, and then a strange number called me again.

"Nadia, you've got some nerve. How dare you block me!

"Go home right now and get a coat for Skye. It's getting cold, and she's been coughing.

"If you manage to be here within half an hour, I might consider forgiving you and continuing our engagement."

He hung up the phone after saying that.

By now, it had already turned from heavy snow to sleet, and I was drenched.

He knew that there was a high probability that I would not be able to get a cab, and he knew that I was trudging along the road in the rain and snow.

Yet he treated me like a dog just to vent Skye's anger.

The rain became even heavier, so I bought an umbrella. Then I stared at the gloomy sky for a long time.

I asked myself. Did I still love him?

No. I didn't love him anymore.

A taxi stopped in front of me with flashers on, and I quickly got into it.

My destination was not home. It was the hospital.

"Miss Cooper, Mr. Madron is in the second-to-last ward on this floor. He's with Miss Ingram.

"Are you sure you're not telling him that you don't want this baby?"

The doctor looked at me, looking struggling.

If Lucas knew he did the abortion for me, Lucas would make sure no one in the medical field ever heard of his name.

I lowered my head wearily and said with a smile, "He has already proposed to her.

"I have nothing to do with him anymore."

Since I had already said so, the doctor didn't say much.

I lay on the cold operating table, quietly looking at my slightly bulging abdomen, feeling sad and bitter.

I had fantasized countless times about my baby growing up and laughing heartily while staying with me.

I never expected that my baby would end up in a sour and smelly fermentation box.

I guessed it was all nothing but my wishful thinking.

Two familiar voices came from the corridor. It seemed they were chatting happily and leisurely.

"Lucas, I really regret going to study abroad..."

"Skye, you will always be my beloved. That ugly woman is no match for you at all."

"I'm very afraid of having children... I'm afraid I won't be able to marry into your family."

"It's fine. After Nadia gives birth, we'll get married and take the baby over to raise it ourselves."

"What if she wouldn't let us?"

"I know her parents well. They are OK with everything as long as I give them money. Even selling her won't be a problem for them."

……

What a perfect plan.

Their plan would take everything from me.

The anesthesia kicked in, and darkness and loneliness completely swallowed me.
