Chapter 2

After making an appointment with a lawyer to make a will, I resigned from the company.

...

In the remaining days, I would do things that I wanted to do before but couldn't under the pressures of life.

I wanted to take wedding photos, travel with Nathan, and get him a lucky charm.

In my life, my family treated me as a moneymaker. I neither had close friends nor had been in love.

I only had Nathan.

He should be willing to stay with me, right?

In the last memories, I hoped we could have a happy time together.

But I knew that if I didn't tell him about my illness, he would consider me selfish and cruel the day he found me dead.

So I would tell him about this tonight and let him be mentally prepared.

In my final moments, I wanted to be at his side no matter what he wanted to do.

It was still early, only a few hours away from 7 o'clock in the evening. I didn't want to waste time, so I made an appointment with a photography studio and looked up places to visit.

At half past six, I took a taxi to Anvil Bar.

As soon as I arrived at the door, a middle-aged man in a suit stopped me and asked kindly, "Are you Piper Jones?"

"Yes."

"You're here for Nathan, right? Please follow me."

I looked at him in confusion and nodded hesitantly.

I set foot inside, and it was luxurious and splendid.

It fascinated me and I couldn't remember which way to go back.

The middle-aged man pushed open the door of a private room.

The people inside suddenly stopped talking and laughing.

I walked in.

At a glance, I saw the man sitting in the middle of the leather sofa.

It was Nathan.

But he didn't look like the Nathan I knew.

He was wearing a well-tailored suit, and even his hair was neatly combed back. His steely dark eyes fell on me as if he was looking at a stranger.

I was confused. What was going on?
