One Phone Call, and They All Regretted It
Chapter 2
After sending it, I looked up at Luca.
"What if I do mind?"
Luca's face showed reluctance. He tried to push her away, but Sarah slumped against him like wet clay.
"We've done it so many times. Why pretend to be a gentleman now?"
She laughed, then looked at me.
"Didn't you say it yourself? Rachel's like a dead fish in bed. No fun at all!"
She was talking to Luca, but staring at me.
Luca glanced at me nervously.
"It was just a joke. I was humoring her."
My nails dug into my palms. I said lightly, "Oh."
"Then I'll come with you to take her home."
"What did you say?"
Sarah asked in disbelief.
I looked up, firm.
"Her head hurts, right? Luca and I will take her home."
I grabbed her stubbornly, forcing her to lean on me.
Luca blinked, then seemed amused.
He flicked my nose.
"Oh, finally jealous? A little temper's fine."
His words and actions were intimate. Like nothing had happened.
I felt sick inside.
But I showed nothing.
In high school, a gang leader's girlfriend cornered me in an alley and cut up my clothes.
I wore the same expression then.
Luca warned her off for me.
He frowned at me for a long time, then took off his jacket and put it on me.
"You should have some temper."
Later, that woman never showed up again. Luca thought it was his doing.
But it was because her father caught her kissing the gang leader.
And her father was there because I led him there.
She was forced to move away. Of course she never bothered me again.
I was happy to let Luca play hero. So I never told him.
"But I booked a hotel room. Who said I'm going home?"
Sarah's voice cut in. She blinked, smug.
She looked at Luca. "Don't you wanna come? But bringing Rachel isn't a good idea."
Luca's gaze moved between us. Before he could speak, I said:
"Luca, come home with me."
I stared at him, softening my tone.
Sarah wrapped her leg around his right in front of me.
"That nightgown you wanted me to wear—I had it sent to the hotel. Miss it, and I won't wear it next time."
Luca's pupils contracted. Interest deepened.
"Rachel, go back first."
He said it to me.
My eyes reddened. "Are you sure?"
He nodded, frowning. "Be good. If you don't want a divorce."
I took a deep breath. Even breathing hurt.
Sarah sneered. "Don't tell me you wanna stay and watch? Too cruel for you."
