My Wife Cried And Regretted, But It Was Too Late

Chapter 1

3,801 words

Before my dad died, the person he wanted to see most was my wife Jessie Jones.

Seeing him looking at me expectantly, I called Jessie with tears in my eyes.

It was a man who answered the phone. He told me sarcastically that Jessie was busy and asked me not to disturb her.

Shortly after the call ended, I saw my dad die with regret.

After I contacted the crematorium with great grief, I saw that Jessie's boss Ron Martin posted a photo of Jessie ironing his tie on his Moments, with the caption: "You are always be the one who understands me the most."

In the photo, Jessie was gentle and virtuous. She was completely different from the one who looked down on me.

At that moment, all the love I had for her completely died.

I generously commented to him: "It's not right for you to be together all the time in such a shady way. I'm in favor of you getting married."

When Jessie came back, it was three days after I had dealt with my dad's funeral, and the living room was littered with cigarette butts.

To the day, I still couldn't accept the fact that my dad died.

As soon as she opened the door and saw me in the smoke, she asked me loudly, "Alan Wilson, did I not allow you to smoke? How dare you smoke in my living room? It's really smoky."

"This is my house. I can smoke all I want." I didn't bother to explain to her.

I had been coaxing her and accommodating her for so many years, but looking at her now, I didn't want to be patient for a moment.

After hearing what I said, she was furious. I never dared disobey her before. My words angered her. "What? You think this is your house? Look at yourself. I put up with it when you can't make much money, and now you can't even clean up the room. So? You still want me to be nice to you?"

Looking at Jessie, who looked disgusted with me, I laughed out loud, "What? Do you think I embarrass you? If so, then let's get divorced."

After I said that, Jessie suddenly fell silent. She looked at me intently and asked me, "Alan, who told you that? In order to prevent me from working in peace, you even thought of getting a divorce?"

"No one told me. It is just that I don't want to live with you, okay?" Then I ignored her.

I turned to the bedroom, took a quilt, and heard Jessie screaming and asking me, "You smell like smoke. What are you doing in the bedroom? I don't want you to touch me."

She accused me with an unhappy look on her face, as if she didn't take what I just said about divorce seriously. I didn't bother to even get angry with her. I just carried the quilt to the guest room, "Since we're getting a divorce, we should sleep separately."

Seeing that I was serious, she finally reacted and asked me, "What are you making a fuss about? It is because I'm working with Mr. Martin? Do you have to make a fuss like this? You're useless and a loser. You want me to be like you?"

I looked at Jessie who looked very justified and said, "Please make way."

She was so angry that she stomped her feet, and finally threw the coffee cup on the door of the guest room when I closed it.

Then she made a lot of noises and smashed a lot of things to show her dissatisfaction. Usually, whenever she frowned, I would immediately coax her and treat her as the apple of my eye.

But now, after she got so angry, I didn't react at all.

She was so angry that she yelled at me, "Alan, you are a loser, and you still doubt me and insist that I have an improper relationship with Mr. Martin. You are really disgusting. If you keep making trouble like this, you should reflect on yourself. Then we will talk about it again."

After saying that, she slammed the door and left.

Before she left, I heard her answering the phone, and the person on the other end was Ron Martin. Her tone immediately became so sweet.

I lay in bed bitterly.
