He Mocked My Postpartum Body for His Mistress. He Had No Idea Who My Father Was.

Chapter 3

I point right at Bianca's face.

"She mocked what giving birth did to my body. Why should I apologize? She's the one who owes me an apology!"

Declan opens his mouth, but the baby starts crying in the bassinet. I scoop her up and carry her into the bedroom.

She must be hungry. I lay her in her crib and hurry to the kitchen to make a bottle.

Just as I've poured warm water into the bottle and checked the temperature, Bianca appears in front of me.

A nasty little smile curls her lips. "Here, Cam, let me help."

Then she smacks the bottle out of my hand. Water splashes all over my pants, right in the most embarrassing spot.

Bianca bursts out laughing and points at the wet patch. "Everybody, come look! Cam leaked again!"

Declan and his friends come running. The guys double over, pointing at my pants.

"Damn, Mrs. Pryce, the video wasn't enough? You had to give us a live show?"

Declan's face turns thunderous. "Camille, are you trying to humiliate me in front of everyone?"

"The bathroom is right there. You couldn't hold it for ten seconds?"

I bend down and pick up the bottle. "Bianca knocked it out of my hand. That's water."

But Bianca flat-out denies it.

"I literally watched her pee herself. When she saw me looking, she dumped water on her pants to cover it up."

She gives me a smug grin. "It's normal to leak after having a baby. But why lie about it?"

"Maybe Mr. Pryce should buy you some adult diapers. Then you'd stop ruining all your pants."

She pinches her nose and looks me up and down like I'm something stuck to her shoe.

I can't take her two-faced act for one more second. I raise my hand and slap her across the face.

"You're a liar, Bianca!"

Declan pulls her into his arms and whirls on me. "Camille, you psycho! Why the hell did you hit her?"

"You embarrass yourself, and nobody's allowed to say a word about it? Go to the bedroom and change your damn pants!"

But all I can think about is my baby, still crying from hunger. I don't bother changing. I rush to make her another bottle.

When I walk into the bedroom, Bianca is dangling my daughter high in the air. My baby is screaming her lungs out.

I drop the bottle and lunge at her. "Give her back right now! If anything happens to her, I swear I'll kill you!"

Declan just stands there, totally calm. "She's only holding the baby. Why are you freaking out?"

I'm losing my mind. I scream until my throat is raw. "She's a newborn! You can't hold her like that!"

Right then, the sharp smell of pee fills the room.

Declan grabs my wrist and stares at my pants. "Did you just pee yourself again?"

Before I can say anything, Bianca shrieks. "Mr. Pryce, it's the baby! She peed on me!"

Declan lets go of me. His voice is ice cold. "Like mother, like daughter. Both of you leak everywhere."

I snatch my daughter out of Bianca's arms and grab a fresh diaper. But before I can change her, Bianca grabs the diaper and tosses it to one of Declan's buddies.

She smirks. "Let Travis change her. He can get some practice for when he's a dad."

Every hair on my body stands on end. The way Travis looks at women has always made my skin crawl.

There's no way in hell I'm letting him near my daughter.

Clutching my baby to my chest with one arm, I shove Travis and Bianca toward the door with everything I've got.

"I can change my own daughter. All of you, get out!"

Declan glares at me. "They came here to celebrate our daughter. Who kicks out their guests like that?"

I push Declan out too, with every ounce of strength I have left, and lock the door.

He pounds on it for ages. I don't answer.

Finally, he snaps. "Camille, you ruined everything today. Who the hell do you think you are, throwing a fit like that?"

"I'm not coming home tonight. Sit there and think about what you did."

The front door slams behind him. And something inside me shatters right along with it.
