After My Wife Ordered a Bowl of Porridge Specifically for Her Assistant, I Filed for Divorce
Chapter 1
At my son's first birthday banquet, my wife ordered a separate dish for the assistant.
Without a moment's hesitation, I sent a message to my lawyer friend and asked him to draft a divorce agreement.
Seeing the agreement, Evelyn Wright laughed out of anger.
"There were hundreds of dishes at the first birthday banquet, and you only stared at Noah's?"
"Can you please curb your possessiveness?"
"Whatever you say," I said calmly, "I'm going to get a divorce anyway."
When I hurried back to the banquet hall, my wife's assistant took the seat that originally belonged to me.
He was wearing a suit of the same color as Evelyn's, and his every move and gesture acted like a host.
"Mr. Noah and Ms. Wright look like a perfect match."
"Ms. Wright works with Assistant Ren every day, and they may even live together."
When I heard the company employee's words, my heart felt like it was being gripped by an invisible hand.
Seeing me coming back, Noah Clarke apologized.
"Brother-in-law, it's all my fault that I spilled red wine on your clothes."
"You won't blame me?"
Before I could respond, Evelyn spoke first.
"Don't I know what you are like?"
"Go sit at table number three. I ordered you a bowl of porridge."
Everyone praised Evelyn for being considerate to her colleagues.
"Just now the boy said he had a stomachache, so Ms. Wright ordered porridge for him."
"His foot was rubbed and bleeding, and Ms. Wright helped him put on a band-aid."
"Noah must be lucky to have such a thoughtful woman."
I smiled on the surface, but my nails dug deep into my palms.
Evelyn used to hate stupidity more than anyone else.
Sometimes he would get angry and fire his assistant just because he had an extra name tag.
I haven't seen such patience for a long time.
"Today's protagonist is my son, please don't talk about me."
Evelyn spoke calmly, without any explanation.
The first birthday banquet was about to start, and she stopped me from getting up.
"I forgot to tell you that I have already decided on the candidate for Ethangodfather."
Without waiting for my reaction, Noah put a safety lock on Ethan.
He placed a kiss on the side of his son's face, "I will be Ethan's father from now on."
Looking up, the provocation in his eyes was clearly visible.
Keep everything simple.
Evelyn suddenly interrupted the process when it was almost over.
"According to the rules, Ethan should kowtow to Noah to be the godfather today."
"Kowtow?" I frowned. "Ethan is only one year old. Kowtow can easily lead to suffocation and brain damage."
"Can you please think before you speak?"
Evelyn said in a bad tone, "Is it that Ethan can't do it, or do you have a grudge against Ethangodfather as a candidate?!"
"Okay Ms. Wright, I've already delivered the safety lock, so the ceremony is complete."
Noah interrupted our quarrel, and the woman who had been arguing with me the previous second immediately calmed down.
"I want to send a few words of blessing to Ethan, is that okay?"
With Evelyn's tacit gaze, the microphone was placed in Noah's hand.
I glanced across the table, and the wine glass with some red wine remaining on it was particularly eye-catching.
Noah smiled.
"I heard Ethan is a test-tube baby."
"Now that I look closely, it really lacks some human touch."
"The test-tube baby must be very delicate. It's hard for my brother-in-law to take care of her."
"Oh, by the way, Ethan knows he's from the lab..."
There was a crisp sound.
I walked off the stage and slapped Noah in the face.
I hit him and his head tilted, and tears welled up in his eyes.
Another crisp sound.
Evelyn said coldly, "This is for you on behalf of Noah."
