I Kindly Babysat Free, Got My Shop Smashed—Why Cry?
From the back cover
Over summer break, I cleared out half my phone shop, free of charge, to watch the kids of the two-income families in my neighborhood. When they were thirsty I boiled water, when they were hungry I cooked noodles. The air-conditioning bill alone ran me over three thousand dollars. But right as school was about to start, Louis's mom from next door showed up at my door with a crowd of parents and let loose on me. "Who are you trying to fool, playing the good Samaritan? You just wanted us to buy those junk phones of yours, didn't you?"
