A Child's Future Rests on These Three Things

Kahlil Gibran once wrote in The Prophet: "Your children are not your children. They are the sons and daughters of Life's longing for itself. They come through you but not from you." When I was young I couldn't understand those words. I thought they were just a writer's empty complaints, until I was past fifty and finally saw that this was the cruelest truth in the world.
